How to Get a Job After Taking Your MCSE Training and Certification

Today’s current job market is to say at least saturated with highly experience and qualified individuals. Many previous professionals are finding that their industry is no longer booming as it once was and are in turn changing their career ideas. Currently, many are turning to I.T. As things become more and more computerized, there is a greater need for I.T professionals. To change career is not easy, but it is possible with a good career plan.

(1)    A certification, such as the mcse certification will validate your experience and knowledge; however, it will not make up for any lack of experience. It is important to have, but purely on its own it is unlikely to get you into even an entry level post. If you decide to take this certification, it is best to take mcse training before you take the exams.

(2)    These days it’s about experience, experience and more experience. So you will need to get out there and get some. There are plenty of voluntary organisations who need computer literate individuals. Experience in an I.T environment, whether third sector, private or government, will demonstrate to any employer that you have experience in that sector.  It is best to try to cover all the requirements for the posts you will be applying for as some employers will totally disregard you if you do not fit the criteria.

(3)    Don’t disregard your past career. Already having worked in a profession will help you get that new position much easier than someone who has never had any experience. Talk about what your past posts have taught you and how they will come in handy for this post, as well as the training (mcse training, health and safety, managerial etc) you have gained.  Generalist skills like being able to take the initiative, team cooperation and being resourceful are highly desirable skills to any post.

(4)    At home practice your skills even far after taking a certification (for example networking). Showing that you are willing to constantly improve your skills will demonstrate to employers your willingness to learn and your commitment to your career.  Hopefully most employers will be impressed.

(5)    Keep up to date with products and methods via the internet, books and magazines. Keeping up to date is vital in an industry that moves and changes at a rapid pace.

(6)    Part of getting that post is by writing an excellent C.V. This is harder than it seems and can take many hours. It’s vital that you get it exactly right; otherwise you may just end up on the rejection pile for many posts. A good C.V will open up opportunities for you, as they not only want someone who is knowledgeable and experience, but accurate and precise with their communication. If you are uncertain how to write a C.V for mcse orientated jobs, seek either a C.V expert to inform you (often free) or to write it for you (you have to pay).

When looking for I.T posts always keep your experience and knowledge up to date, as the I.T industry is so fast moving.  Sell yourself and the skills you have to offer. Trying to stand out of the crowd is a pretty hard task in today’s industry, but showing your determination will hopefully get you that interview.
